Event Series Event Series: Disability Pride Month

Disability Pride Month

July 1, 2027 All day

Celebrated each year in July to commemorate the passing of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in July 1990.  The first official Disability Pride Month celebration occurred in July 2015, which marked the 25th anniversary of the ADA.  The Disability Pride flag has five colors representing different types of disabilities: red (physical disabilities), yellow (neurodivergence), white (invisible and undiagnosed disabilities), blue (psychiatric disabilities) and green (sensory disabilities). The black background of the flag mourns the disabled people that have lost their lives due not only to their illness, but also to negligence, suicide and eugenics.
