Plan Benefits: Tax Deductions - Tax Exemptions

Montana offers state tax deductions for Montana Family Education Savings Program contributions.

Montana residents are entitled to a $3,000 annual state tax deduction from gross income(married couples may deduct $6,000 per year). There's no recapture on withdrawals from accounts opened at least three years (you do not have to pay tax on your deductions upon withdrawal) if the contributions are used to pay qualified higher education expenses.
