Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan tuition benefits - public in-state 4-year college.

A prepaid tuition contract can pay up to 160 credit hours of tuition and required fees for students at any public college or university. Required fees are those fees that are charged to all students as a condition of enrollment at a particular institution of higher education. The Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan does not cover room and board, transportation, books, laboratory fees or other fees required for specific courses.

The amount paid will not exceed the average amount of tuition and required fees in Texas for the current academic year under the Plan selected. The Plan will pay the college after receipt of an invoice. There is a $25 processing fee deducted from the payment to the out-of-state-school for each term funds are disbursed on your behalf.

The Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan will pay tuition and required fees at a Texas proprietary institution according to the average rate for your college plan type for the number of hours taken each term. The Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan can pay directly to any proprietary institution approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan is a prepaid tuition program. The Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan locks in the cost of tomorrow's college tuition and required fees at Texas public colleges and universities at today's prices. Payment of Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan benefits is guaranteed by the State of Texas. Tuition benefits can be transferred to any out-of-state college or university, or accredited Texas proprietary schools. The plan is closed to new enrollment, but the state offers a new prepaid tuition plan, the Texas Tuition Promise Fund, and two college savings plans, the direct-sold Texas College Savings Plan and the advisor-sold LoneStar 529 Plan.

Change of Beneficiary

Benefits may also be transferred to a qualified member of the current beneficiary's family provided the current beneficiary has not started using plan benefits. The Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan pays for tuition and required fees. Required fees are those fees imposed on all students as a condition of enrollment at a particular college or university. Required fees do not include laboratory fees or equipment usage fees required for particular courses, charges for room and board, book costs or any optional fees. Purchasers may receive a refund if the beneficiary chooses not to attend college, receives a scholarship, or in the event of death or disability.
